Why Road Safety Matters for Every Indian
India accounts for nearly 11% of global road accident deaths despite having only 1% of the world’s vehicles. Road safety is not just a traffic issue — it is a public health crisis.
The Ground Reality
Every hour, approximately 53 people die on Indian roads. Most of these deaths are preventable. Speeding, drunk driving, not wearing helmets or seatbelts, and poorly maintained roads are the leading causes.
What We Can Do
- Always wear a helmet on two-wheelers
- Wear seatbelts in cars — front and back seat
- Never use a mobile phone while driving
- Follow lane discipline and traffic signals
- Report potholes and road hazards to local authorities
Our Role
At Sujan Nagarik Foundation, we believe change begins with awareness. We conduct workshops in schools, colleges, and communities to spread this message. Join us in making India’s roads safer for everyone.
